Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra

IPC has long experience in R&D international projects and its strategy of internationalization is aligned with the strategic framework for European cooperation in the field of education and training, especially in matters of quality and effectiveness of education and training, promoting equity, social cohesion and active citizenship; and encouraging creativity and innovation.

The Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra owns a teaching center, CINEP (www.cinep.ipc.pt). CINEP is focused on pedagogy and innovation in higher education and offers teaching support services for teachers, departments and centers of investigation. CINEP aims to contribute toward pedagogical innovation and quality in higher education through local, national and international cooperation of teachers and researchers. Susana Gonçalves

Director of the Centre for the Study and Advancement of Pedagogy in Higher Education (CINEP)

PhD in Psychology by the University of Coimbra is Coordinating Professor at the Polytechnic of Coimbra and Director of the Centre for the Study and Advancement of Pedagogy in Higher Education (CINEP). She is a researcher at the Research Unit for Education and Training (University of Lisbon) and she teaches in the area of Educational Psychology and Intercultural Education. She is a member of Children’s Identity and Citizenship in Europe Association, where she has served as Secretary General since 2007. She has a long experience of work with higher education in the fields of education, psychology and intercultural communication. She is a member of the Comparative Study Group in Interculturality (CSGI/GECI) (Grupo de Estudos Comparados em Interculturalidade of the SEC-SPCE (Comparative Education Section of the Portuguese Society of Educational Science) since its creation in 2014. Her present research interest are focused on the advancement of teaching and learning in Higher education and comparative education in Higher Education. Some of her most recent works are the edited books Art and intercultural dialogue (Sense, 2016), The challenges of diversity and intercultural encounters (2013, Routledge) and Intercultural Policies and Education (2011, Peter Lang).

Rui Costa

PhD in Food Engineering

Academic qualifications in Food Engineering (Honours and PhD). Since 1999, he is an adjunct professor teaching Food Engineering first and second cycles and does research in food processing. He is the coordinator of nationally funded research projects in food processing. He was coordinator of Food Studies working groups in ISEKI_Food networks since 2002 up to 2014. He’s a member of the board of the IFA Association (http://www.iseki-food.net/) since 2005 and is a member of the Certification Committee of the ISEKI Food Association for the certification of curricula. Was a member of the board of the Portuguese union of teachers and researchers SNESup (www.snesup.pt/) from 2002 to 2009. Participant in Tempus projects related to qualification frameworks and quality assurance of higher education (530838-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-RUTEMPUS-SMGR; 517336-TEMPUS-1-2011-1-PL-TEMPUS-SMHES; JEP 27166_2006). Coordinator of a work package in FP7 GA 227220 about the regulation of professions in Food Science and Technology in Europe. Chair of the ESCO Manufacturing of food, beverages and tobacco (DG Employment & DG Education).
