University of Granada

As a classical university (1531) with around 56,000 students, 3,600 lecturers, 1,900 technical staff, the UGR offers a wide range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Every year over 4,800 international students choose the UGR to take full study programs or via the approximately 800 exchange agreements in which the UGR is involved. The UGR is the leading European university in a number of Erasmus students received, and in 2007, received the Erasmus Gold Star Award in recognition of its contribution to the program.

Additionally, the UGR is a full member of numerous international networks such as the Coimbra Group, UNIMED, EUA, IAU, EAIE, etc. –

Mission and Objectives: As a public higher education institution it is committed not only to quality and excellence in education, learning, and research but also to activities targeting the transfer of scientific, technical, and artistic knowledge to society, the betterment of society, and a sustainable environment. As a modern university with a long-standing tradition, the UGR strives for improved and increasing outreach and the promotion of strong links with its local and regional context. Respect for the dignity of individuals, freedom of thought and expression, justice, equality, solidarity, and eradication of discrimination are among the main values of the UGR. Due to its long-standing tradition, geographical location, and high standards, both in teaching and research, the UGR regards internationalization as one of its strategic aims.

Main Projects / Activities: Its main activities are related to higher education, learning, and research in a very broad sense. Its more than 100 departments carry out high-quality research and teaching activities at all levels. Central services for students, research equipment, continuing education, summer schools, language training, transfer of knowledge, work placements, etc. are available for all the members of its academic community. The UGR is involved in a vast number of national and international projects financed through different programs such as FP7, LLP, Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Erasmus+, H2020, Europe for Citizens. At this moment, the UGR is participating in >60 EU funded education projects being the coordinator of > 10 of them.

The International Relations Office-IRO counts with a specific unit composed of 6 staff members who deal with the management of international education projects in close cooperation with the rest of key units (finance, information, mobility…) within the IRO.

Alfonso Caracuel-Romero

Associate Professor in the Developmental and Educational Psychology department at the University of Granada

Alfonso Caracuel is an associate professor in the Developmental and Educational Psychology department at the University of Granada. He has extensive experience as a clinical neuropsychologist in the field of evaluation and intervention with children with neurodevelopmental disorders and acquired brain injuries. He is the coordinator of the Neuropsychology assistance program of the University Clinic of Psychology. He has collaborated in 8 competitive research projects and was a PI in two projects. He has participated in a project with ten Spanish-American countries to create normative data for widely used cognitive assessment tests for children and adolescents. His main research results are 30 papers in JCR, two clinical guides, ten book chapters, three free software rehabilitation programs, and many contributions to international conferences.

Purificación Pérez-García

Permanent Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Granada

Purificación Pérez-García is a permanent senior lecturer at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Granada (Spain). Her research interests are related to teacher education, the initial training period,  the practicum, university teaching, and professional ethics. She has published book chapters and papers in JCR and SCOPUS, about these matters, and also, she has investigated them in competitive research projects.

Natalia Hidalgo Ruzzante

Associate Professor in the Developmental and Educational Psychology department at the University of Granada

Natalia Hidalgo Ruzzante is an associate professor in the Developmental and Educational Psychology department at the University of Granada. She has extensive experience in the field of evaluation and intervention with children. She has been the coordinator of the Red Cross Program for Social Intervention with Disfavored Children (2002-2008). Her research is focused on childhood, neurodevelopment, gender, and cross-cultural neuropsychology. She has high competence in cross-cultural neuropsychological assessment,  childhood, and gender.

Francisco Cruz Quintana

Permanent Lecturer at the University of Granada and a Specialist in Clinical Psychology

Francisco Cruz Quintana is a permanent lecturer at the University of Granada and a specialist in clinical psychology. He has teaching, research, and assistance experience in the field of neurodevelopment, especially in the field of evaluation, intervention, and monitoring of at-risk children and the clinical, nutritional, environmental, and social determinants of child health. He has published more than 100 articles in national and international journals, books, and book chapters, has directed more than 20 doctoral theses, and participated in 23 national and international research projects. His main skills are the development of evaluation tests and intervention programs.

María Isabel Peralta-Ramírez

Permanent Lecturer at the University of Granada

María Isabel Peralta is a permanent lecturer at the University of Granada. She has a wide experience in the field of Stress and Brain, especially in populations with a lot of Psychological stress and alterations during neurodevelopment. She was a PI in 3 competitive research projects. She has more than 60 papers in JCR, 27 of the Q1 or Q2, as well as a book and numerous book chapters and contributions to national and international congress. Furthermore, she has mentored 10  Ph.D. students to get their doctoral theses.

María Nieves Pérez-Marfil

Permanent Lecturer at the University of Granada

María Nieves Pérez Marfil is a permanent lecturer at the University of Granada. She has a teaching, research, and assistance experience in the field of neurodevelopment. She also has accreditation as a Health Psychologist and Expert in Psychotherapy and Secretary of the Ethics and Deontology Commission of the Spanish Professional College of Psychology. She has participated in various cooperation projects focused on the evaluation and intervention of children in situations of poverty or neglect, two of them in the Arab world. It has numerous impact publications related to this subject.

Inmaculada Teva-Alvarez

Associate Professor at the University of Granada

Inmaculada Teva is associate professor at the University of Granada. She has broad research experience in Health Psychology, especially on the assessment of health risk factors in adolescents and other populations such as people HIV infected. Moreover, she has broad teaching experience in the field of Educational and Developmental Psychology in children aged 6-12. Inmaculada has participated in 6 research projects. She has published 42 scientific papers, 26 of them included in JCR. She also has participated in numerous international congresses.

Raquel Vilar-Lopez

Lecturer at the University of Granada

Raquel Vilar is a permanent lecturer at the University of Granada. She has a wide experience in the field of Clinical Neuropsychology, especially on the neuropsychological characterization of different populations and alterations during neurodevelopment. She has collaborated in 7 competitive research projects and was a PI in one project. She has 38 papers in JCR, 16 of them Q1 (6 D1), as well as numerous book chapters and contributions to international congress. Furthermore, she has mentored 4 Ph.D. students to get their doctoral theses.

Miguel Pérez García

Professor of Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Granada

Miguel Perez-García is a Full Professor of Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Granada. He has published more than 145 papers in national and international journals focused on cross-cultural neuropsychology, neuropsychological problems in drug abusers, traumatic brain injury patients, victims of intimate partner violence, or neurodevelopmental problems. He has coordinated or participated in more than 15 research projects and supervised more than 20 doctoral thesis. He has been the president of the Spanish Federation of Neuropsychological Societies and at present, he is a member of the National Commission for Accreditation of Clinical Neuropsychologists.
